I recently had two others of the same scope whose condenser stage would not move much as if they wanted them fixed. Labeling on it but the difference being this one has an intentional stop installed condenser stage in form of a orange piece plastic/nylon tubing. This came to me listed as broken with a question mark on its tape label from my local college. This one exhibited the same behavior hence broken.

Four objectives on board all CP-Achromat 5x 10x 40x and a 100x oil. I assume they wanted the condensers fixed in whatever lab were using this on campus.
