There is a plug in for the upper light and place 3 AA batteries lower to help with observation. Includes Wanker camera attachment to assist in taking pictures using your cell phone.

The manual reads, microscope is perfectly suitable for the experimental studies of 8-18 year old school children exploration microscopic world. The set includes a box of ready made slides that came with the microscope.
